This story first appeared in the October 25, 2016 issue of Variety. As of tonight, his campaign is producing a nightly news show on Facebook Live: an all access pass to one putrescent orange marshmallow and his lackeys!
Speculation has been rife that the NY businessman has plans to set up a television channel if he were to lose the election on November 8. "You don't have to take it through the media filter and all the spin they put on it, you can hear it from us directly", Trump adviser Cliff Simms said on the Monday show, during which he was flanked by a senior Trump adviser, Boris Epshteyn, and, briefly, the campaign manager, KellyAnne Conway. Numerous traditional nightly news broadcasts have several million average viewers at any given time. "Trump TV" is a post-election network aimed at Trump fans, and for several months, media experts and politicos have been abuzz about its prospects. Epshteyn and Sims held a similar broadcast after last week's final debate on Wednesday, which drew almost 200,000 viewers, according to Politico. According to the campaign, the show will air nightly at 6:30 p.m. ET in the two weeks leading up to the November 8 election. Epshteyn has downplayed its significance as a harbinger of Trump TV. "This is us delivering our message to voters", said Epshteyn. Trump on October 25 told a Cincinnati radio station that he has "no interest" in a post-election Trump TV venture. Both Trump and Clinton have built large media operations around themselves and are using them to push their agendas as the election approaches.

Merck Crushes Q3 Expectations Following Lung Cancer Drug Win
Sales of drugs and vaccines for pets and livestock increased 5% to $865 million, helped by flea-and-tick treatment Bravecto. Looking ahead, MRK boosted its full-year earnings outlook to a range of $3.71-3.78 per share, up from $3.67-3.77.
The campaign, of course denies that that's the goal with these broadcasts, framing them as a way to give followers Trump's message, unfiltered by traditional media. "Some kind of streaming service would make a lot more sense". Trump had about 50,000 people watching the video. Every time Trump plays to his base at the expense of appealing to swing voters, observers wonder if he's really just stoking the passions of his future paying audience.
What do you think of Trump's new strategy? "He's built up a strong base of passionate people who are anti-establishment. They don't want to drain the swamp". But it was definitely an attempt to broadcast a cable-TV style program.
His comments were first reported by CNN. All of that will take significant resources. Trump's rise as a political force has dovetailed with major changes at Fox News Channel, which for 20 years has been the primary TV outlet for conservative political commentary through its primetime lineup. He has been at the forefront of all types of new media from his early days at Breitbart. "There is an opportunity".
If one starts with Romney's 206 electoral votes from 2012 (which includes North Carolina), adding Florida (29), OH (18), Iowa (6), and "possibly" Nevada (6), brings Trump to...265.
