They probably deserve it.
On third and 5 at the Seattle 44 with 4 minutes left and New Orleans leading 22-20, Lane got run over again by Snead.
But don't blame them for Seattle losing, because it wasn't the zebras' fault.
In addition, the Seahawks were constantly telling officials the Saints were extending their arms to push off and create space for a receptions.
On New Orleans' next possession, it appeared the Seahawks were going to lock the door to the end zone after linebacker Nathan Stupar picked off a Russell Wilson pass to set-up the Saints at Seattle's 37. That's not a sentence written lightly, as stripe-bashing is the king of sports cliches, but in this case numerous gripes seemed valid. But his role has changed this season and he has only 33 rushing yards and a 1.5-yard average, which means the Saints hope he doesn't break loose this Sunday against their 23rd-ranked run defense that is allowing 116.8 yards per game.
The Saints coach dialed back New Orleans' prolific passing game and challenged his running backs and offensive line to deliver as much punishment to Seahawks defenders as they could.
But the officiating on Sunday was a popular topic after the game and deserves at least some mention.
"We played within the rules and we got called, they played not within the rules and they didn't get called", Sherman said. "I can say what I think about his ability, and still he needs to get out there in the heat of the moment".
Iraq seeks OPEC deal that would preserve oil output
OPEC representatives at the meetings were from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. International Brent crude oil futures rose 35 cents to US$51.81 per barrel at 0910 GMT from their last close.
Sherman might be right, but do you know what was even more egregious?
Seattle had just 74 yards rushing and, with matchups against the Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles the offensive funk looms as their undoing. There is also no doubt the officials did a bad job in this game and penalties should never be so one-sided. The "small sample size" argument concerning the offense is no longer legitimate.
Earlier in Week 8, NFL Thursday Night Football saw the Jacksonville Jaguars go on the road to take on the Tennessee Titans. They also gave up more points per game (32.5) than any other team in the league.
The key to getting back on the winning track for the Seahawks seems to be in finding a way to get more consistent production out of the offense. Seattle had 11 penalties for 76 yards.
The Seahawks still have the best shot at earning the No. 1 seed and the first-round bye and home-field advantage in the playoffs. He then ignored a series of questions while walking more than half of the length of the field wearing headphones on his way out of the Superdome. Someone stripped Saints running back Mark Ingram, the ball flew into Thomas' hands, and Thomas proceeded to sprint towards the end zone to give Seattle a 7-0 lead.
SACK SURGE: Led by Cliff Avril, the Seahawks are finding ways to get to the quarterback. Look for Baldwin to have seven catches for 85 yards and a touchdown. Perhaps it's because he hasn't been as involved in the offense as he was at the end of last season or the beginning of this one, or maybe it's just because he hasn't won a game since October 16.
"Mostly, it was kind of up and down", Thomas said.
