Perry had been a vocal supporter of Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton in the US presidential election and was no doubt disappointed by the election result.
Hillary Clinton was heavily favored, and supported, by celebrities during her campaign. Trump had won several "swing states", including Florida, Ohio, Iowa and North Carolina, allowing him to reach the 270 electoral college votes needed to ensure victory.
She said: "Tonight, my parents voted for Trump".

At the time, she shared that her parents were both pastors in California and "staunch Republicans", which angered Evangelical Christians who felt the singer had rebelled.

Perry held out a "Get out the Vote" concert on Friday to perform in support of Clinton at the Mann Center in Philadelphia, Pa. ahead of the election. "We are not a nation that will not let HATE lead us", she wrote, later adding, "Fight for what is RIGHT".
