Law-enforcement negotiations with a man suspected of fatally shooting a Show Low police officer closed a stretch of State Route 260 in Pinetop-Lakeside on November 8, 2016.
Authorities say a man suspected of killing an Arizona police officer was fatally shot by officers who had surrounded a cabin where he was holed up.
Responding to a disturbance call Tuesday afternoon, officers got into a confrontation with Daniel Erickson.
Show Low police confirm that a police officer who was shot in the line of duty Tuesday has died.
Details of how the shooting occurred or if Erickson was being sought by authorities prior to the incident weren't immediately released by police. Now, authorities say Erickson could be in another vehicle: a gray 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee BGT9579 with a ladder on top. Police said he should be considered armed and risky. He was last seen wearing a black leather trench coat with a silver handgun. The lockdown was lifted just before 3 p.m. The SUV has since been located, a police spokesperson said.

Officials said Erickson sporadically shot at officers during the 6 1/2-negotiation. Previously, he spent five months in prison in 2007 for an endangerment conviction in Pinal County.
Highway 260 was closed in the area of the standoff, which is about 10 miles south of Show Low.
The La Paz County Sheriff's Department posted: "We're very sorry for your loss".
They went into the lockdown at the request of the Show Low Police Department around 1:40 p.m.
