If you are anxious your information may have been leaked as a result of this breach, experts recommend that you change your password immediately.
Hackers leaked the data over the weeks that followed. In the aftermath of the Ashley Madison attack, numerous users reported receiving extortion and blackmail attempts. However, the two online dating websites are not comparable as Ashley Madison offered an online place for married people to cheat on their spouses, while Friend Finder is more of an adult community.
LeakedSource said the alleged breach includes almost 340 million accounts from flagship site Adult FriendFinder, plus data from other sites owned by FriendFinder Network, including Cams.com, as well as records from Penthouse.com, which was sold in February. Other domains of the group, such as stripshow.com and icams.com, had over 1 million accounts compromised, each. It is an adult site, but it involves live webcam sex chat. Beyond that, 62 million accounts from Cams.com and seven million from Penthouse.com were compromised alongside smaller amounts from other properties. A year ago details of four million users were leaked onto the dark web. The researcher posted screenshots showing local file inclusion vulnerabilities. It enabled hackers to gain access to all the network's sites.
US Election: Nigel Farage calls No 10 Trump rebuff 'astonishing'
Mrs May's official spokeswoman said the government already has "well-established" channels of communication with Mr Trump's team. Nigel Farage has said the way Number 10 has rejected his offer to act as a Trump administration go-between is "astonishing".
LeakedSource said breaking with usual tradition because of the kind of breach, it will not make the data searchable.
According to some analysts, the hack was inevitable. Numerous passwords leaked in the breach are in clear text. It does not provide any protection. It could have also used SHA1 algorithm, which is one of the weakest encryption services in the market. Furthermore, the company is keeping its logins for a site that it is no longer running. Penthouse was sold earlier in the year to Penthouse Global Media, Inc.
The leaked data base also includes 16 million deleted accounts, 78,301 U.S. military and 5,650 United States government email addresses.
Friend Finders Network did disclose to ZDNet that it had been aware of vulnerabilities and had taken steps to correct it.
