Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Army Chief Gen. Raheel Sharif watched the exercise - dubbed "Strike of Thunder" and complete with planes, tanks, artillery and other heavy weapons - to test the army's preparedness for any eventual hostile situation.

"Pakistan can not be bullied by such tactics as we are fully capable of defending our soil against any belligerence", Sharif said while chairing a high-level meeting to review the situation along the LoC.
Expressing grief over the death of the seven soldiers, Sharif said deliberate escalation of tension along LoC by Indian forces is a threat to regional peace and security.
"The day seven of our soldiers were martyred on the border, we killed at least 11 Indian soldiers", he claimed.
The prime minister urged that the United Nations must take notice of the ceasefire violations on the LoC and the unwarranted escalation of tension between the two countries.
He emphasised that Pakistani armed forces did not initiate fire, however would always respond in a befitting manner to any aggression.

The participants of the meeting attended by General (R) Nasir Khan Janjua NSA, Mr Tariq Fatemi SAPM and other senior government officials were told by Sartaj Aziz that increased frequency of indiscriminate firing and shelling from the Indian side is targeting civilian populated areas.
"The population facing the bullets on LoC are great people and to look after them is the prime duty and responsibility of both the federal and AJK governments", Barjees said adding that all available resources would be utilised to provide immediate relief to the victims.
