After rumors have circulated for year perpetuating a beef between Rihanna and Beyonce, the Grammy nominations have sparked the chatter once again.
Beyoncé led the pack in the Grammy nominations for next year's award ceremony, with nine nominations in various categories. Some of the categories in which she was nominated include Song of the Year with her hit song "Formation" and record of the year courtesy of her Lemonade album.
Beyoncé has the most nominations with nine and is followed by Kanye, Drake and Rihanna, who each have eight. English singer and song-writer Adele has five nominations in her bag, colliding head-on with Beyonce in the fight for awards in the categories of record of the year, song of the year and album of the year.
The nominations for the 59th annual Grammy Awards, which will be hosted by "Late Late Show" host James Corden and held February 12 at Staples Center in Los Angeles, were announced early Tuesday morning and the battles for the prestigious trophies have begun.
Meanwhile, Adele is aiming to become only the second woman to receive the best album prize twice after Taylor Swift achieved the feat earlier this year.

United Manager Jose Mourinho also tried to dwell on the positives after he had sent on Fellaini against eighth-placed Everton. He told Liverpoolfc.com post-match: "We know about our situation, in a good and a bad perspective, so everything is good.
Making Grammy history is Chicago-born musician Chance The Rapper, whose album Coloring Book is the first streaming-only record to be recognised by the Recording Academy. Simpson was in a bit of controversy this year when he posted on Facebook that the Academy of Country Music Awards should not have created an award named after Merle Haggard when he felt they never showed true love to the country outlaw, who died this year.
Music industry publication Billboard said on Tuesday that Grammy voters had "recognized with their nominees this year what the rest of the music-listening world has long accepted: that both its commercial and critical center lies with pop, hip hop and R&B".
Lemonade's ambitious musical breadth was recognised with unprecedented Grammy nominations across pop, rock, rap and urban categories. Yet, it was still surprising to see voters honor Lukas Graham and Twenty One Pilots over the likes of Justin Timberlake and, especially, the ever-fabulous Sia, whose "Cheap Thrills" should've be a shoe-in for this category.
Also in the running for Best New Artist were electronic sensations The Chainsmokers and the country singers Kelsea Ballerini and Maren Morris.
Bowie, who always enjoyed more accolades in his native Britain than in his adopted home of the United States, was up for Best Alternative Music Album against other favorites of critics - Bon Iver, PJ Harvey, Iggy Pop and Radiohead. She also scored nominations for best Americana album, American Roots performance and American Roots song for her own work. The Grammy Awards will air live on Sunday, Feb. 12, and are hosted by James Corden.
