The model, who was recently named International Model of the Year by the British Fashion Council, said she also struggles with dealing with the nasty messages she receives on her social media from strangers.
Determined to quash rumours she intentionally slimmed down for the event, the model has now revealed her secret battle with autoimmune condition Hashimoto's disease.
It can takes months or even years for the condition to be detected, because it progresses so slowly.
"My metabolism actually changed like insane this year", she told Elle.
It's not known what causes Hashimoto's disease but it sometimes appears to run in families. She didn't reveal when she was exactly diagnosed but Gigi did say that she's been taking medication for two years.
But just a year earlier, she was thought to be too heavy for the runway, and was put in a large poncho for a 2015 Tommy Hilfiger show. She also revealed how she calms her mind in those moments. "I'm not a salad and meat-type person; to me, that's boring". "I am pretty excited that she is here and that both my parents, my dad is here as well, get to see both Bella and I in the show, so it is going to be wonderful". "Carbs, or whatever!" she added.
Italian PM to resign after approval of 2017 budget
One of the proposed reforms would have stripped the Senate of most of its powers and make it no longer directly elected. Since the budget law has been approved he (Renzi) offered the resignation of the government over which he presides.
On Wednesday, December 7, she took the stage to workout at a Reebok event in NY, and although she packed some powerful punches, there wasn't an inch to pinch on her body either.
For Gigi Hadid, that's thyroid disease.
"She explained: "[During stressful times] I try to sit myself down and say, 'If it wasn't for the world's opinion, do I think I did a good job?' 'Would my coaches in high school be proud of me?' Those little things I try and think of. "It's a thyroid disease", Gigi told America's Elle.
"I want to go back to focusing on that kind of relationship within fashion when I go to work for the next month". That's what I needed, and they don't care about what my body looks like. They're like 'What up!' They don't care about who I am. "I'm going to take a break when I feel like it, and when I come back and share it with you, if you want to be supportive and still follow me, that's great".
Gigi Hadid walks the VS runway in 2016. "Everyone always calls me flawless, and I'm just not, I'm like everyone else".
But the blond bombshell knows how to handle body shamers. I love eggs! In general I like fresh ingredients.
