In 2015, 35,000 children registered to receive gifts from Toys for Tots. The warehouse will temporarily be closing until this weekend so that they can restock on toys.
All gifts collected during the drive will be donated to Toys for Tots, the premier community action program of the United States Marines. Local campaigns are conducted annually in over 700 communities covering all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. "Recovery in the region will take time, but getting a cherished toy into the hands of a child who has lost everything will hopefully spread some needed joy".
About 3,000 toys are involved altogether this year, including stuffed animals, dolls, games and a wide range of others.
IMF's Lagarde goes on trial in Paris
The prosecution says that through her actions, Lagarde "deprived the state of a chance to avoid this money being misused". Proceedings, which went ahead despite a request by Lagarde's lawyer to postpone, are set to last through December 20 .
And with five days remaining before the end of the Toys for Tots campaign, the 2016 donations are down from previous years. As an additional incentive to collect toys, Ravenel Associates also donated $1 to the Lowcountry Food Bank for each toy received. Toys can be dropped off through Wednesday, Dec. 21.
