The party had initially been intended only for friends, family, and neighbors in Villa de Guadalupe, but once the video invitation went viral online, Rubi had become a meme, reportedly sparking jokes, tributes from musicians and offers of sponsorships from companies.
Red Cross workers were called in to monitor the Mexican birthday party after Crescencio announced that "everyone is cordially invited", which, according to Rubi's mother, only meant everyone in the surrounding communities, not everyone in the world. It got SO insane that the Mexican airline Interjet even offered a 30-percent discount on flights!
The teen's quinceanera invite was only supposed to be for a small private gathering, but the Facebook invitation that Rubi Ibarra Garcia's father sent out a few weeks prior to the party was accidentally set as public.
Luckily, Rubi took the overwhelming surprise in stride as she posted several times on FB about the event and how excited she was.
"To all those who have already arrived I ask you to please do not despair because in truth we are many people and we are just seeing how to speed things up", the girl wrote. "I just ask for your patience so that we can all enjoy this party".
John Williams Has Never Seen a 'Star Wars' Movie
This makes for a more realistic war movie, which the filmmakers had intended from the get-go. But however well it does, it won't be enough to beat out ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY.
Up to 30,000 people attended the quinceañera of 15-year-old Rubi Ibarra in Mexico, which was tainted by the death of a 66-year-old man, local officials said. NBC also claims that there is a video of the extremely tragic and disturbing incident that people have posted online.
After the video invitation went viral, nearly 1.2 million replied that they will join the celebration, even though the father later stated that he was only trying to invite neighbors and friends, but that he will not refuse anyone.
The race was canceled following the accident.
Local media reported the final crowd was far less than her parents feared, although thousands still turned up. The event can serve as a cautionary tale to discourage those who use social media to occasionally turn on their privacy settings.
