Officials removed a tsunami warning after a magnitude 7.6 quake struck 225km southwest of Puerto Montt in southern Chile on Sunday, prompting an evacuation order for southern coastal areas.
The quake had a depth of 15 kilometers (nine miles) according to the PTWC.
"As a measure of precaution, we order the evacuation of coastal areas of Biobio, Araucania, Los Rios, Aysen", the alert said.
The 7.7 natural disaster occurred about 77km off Puerto Quellon at a depth of 20 miles, the US Geological Survey said.
