Treecycle - the county's annual Christmas tree recycling program - will offer several dropoff locations starting next weekend. Be sure to strip off all ornaments, Christmas lights and other decorations.
Those who use city refuse service can have their trees - including flocked - picked up on Saturday, Jan. 7, by placing the tree where their trash is usually collected by 7 a.m.
Collection Station: Hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.to 5 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m.to 3 p.m. There is no charge for drop-off.
For other cities within the Lowcountry you can take your trees to your local convenience centers to be taken to local landfills. Tree collection will take place through Monday, January 16th at three community drop-off sites including Bartley Ranch Regional Park, Rancho San Rafael Regional Parks, and Shadow Mountain Sports Complex in Sparks. Residents in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Cary, Apex, Wake Forest, Clayton, Fuquay-Varina, Holly Springs, Morrisville, Wendell and Zebulon can put trees out on their regular collection days.
Christmas tree vendors may recycle their unsold trees on December 27 only at the Hubbard's Lane site.

This mulch is free to residents on a first come, first serve basis, for as long as the mulch last.
The donated trees will be recycled into mulch for playgrounds, public beautification projects, wildlife habitats, and homeowner landscaping projects.
