But O'Brien left enough hints at his Monday press conference to infer he's leaning to Brock Osweiler over Tom Savage for Saturday's game at NRG Stadium in Houston.
Osweiler was named the starter by coach Bill O'Brien on Tuesday and, by one measure, becomes one of the worst quarterbacks to ever lead a playoff team. The third-year quarterback is now in the NFL's five-stage concussion protocol and did not practice Wednesday.
If Savage is able to clear the concussion protocol before the end of the week, he will serve as Osweiler's backup for this game. The Raiders 221 finished with total offensive yards, committed three turnovers, and the rushing attack picked up only 57 yards, a far cry from the group that ranked seventh in the National Football League with 26 points per game and sixth with 120.1 rushing yards a contest.
The Texans held the Raiders rushing attack to 30 yards, on 20 carries, in the Mexico City game.
"I'm still not 100 (percent), I definitely want to go. I've been wanting to play", explained Joseph. The Raiders will enter as the first wild card team with a 12-4 record, as they hold the five seed, while the Texans claimed the four seed after winning the AFC South with a 9-7 record.
Texans QB Savage departs with possible concussion
Interestingly, Savage just left the Texans' season finale, as he is being evaluated for a concussion. Every rep covering and returning punts and kicks is a good thing for this team.
Saturday's playoff game between the Texans and Raiders kicks off at 2:35 MST. "But still disappointed that we are not playing". He has been disruptive in the running game, he has been disruptive for us in the passing game. Linebacker Benardrick McKinney is the dominant force on the defense in Houston now, as he registered 129 tackles this season for the Texans.
Court records show Jones is accused of pushing and poking a man in the eye, then struggling with Cincinnati police officers by head-butting, kicking and refusing to get into a police vehicle.
"I've been wanting to play", Joseph said.
"Look, I think that it's an intense game", O'Brien said. I know, pretty horrendous numbers right there. I'm neither a fan of O'Brien or Smith, but win or lose, something will have to break in the off-season.
It's rare that a coach gets fired after consecutive playoff appearances, but the Texans might be at the point where change could come with another early postseason exit.
