He accepted the head coaching job with the San Francisco 49ers who on New Year's Day made drastic changes within the organization including the firing of Chip Kelly. Naturally, the conversation now moves to potential additions to the 49ers coaching staff underneath the two men in charge. When their run ended, they went looking for a new head coach and among the candidates was Shanahan.
A reminder that Shanahan and Lynch will formally be announced to the media and 49ers fans on Thursday at 1 p.m. PT from the Levi's® Stadium auditorium.
As of now, the Falcons still have significant pieces of Shanahan's staff, including wide receivers coach Raheem Morris (who is tight with Dan Quinn), longtime running backs coach Bobby Turner, offensive line coach Chris Morgan, and tight ends coach Wade Harman. "That's the way we wanted it, that's the way we wanted it reflected, but that's the reality of it".
"It will be a football decision", Lynch said, "but I think part of that, there are different layers to that". As most can see, Shanahan and Lynch have a lot of work ahead and hopefully, their efforts will make team owner Jed York proud. "When I played, I had to play against those guys, and so I don't know if I ever, in my mind I think I knew but I couldn't really admit it to myself because it would only be surrender". 2014 was Jim Harbaugh's previous year with the team before they "mutually" parted ways, followed by single seasons by Jim Tomsula and Chip Kelly.
IMF's Lagarde says Greece needs work on economic data reporting
But using taxpayers' money to Greece yet more debt relief will be an unpopular policy for many European countries. It warned Greece's debt "is highly unsustainable" and "will become explosive in the long run".
"You get in Kyle Shanahan's system and you've got 15-word plays", Lynch said on KNBR. When you have a quarterback, the great ones are leaders of men. His latest stop with the Atlanta Falcons was arguably his best on paper and when it came to winning.
Shanahan, who plans to be the OC and the head coach, has been creative with his use of coaching assistants. San Francisco was the last of six teams to hire a coach this offseason.
