Formula One team Sauber have officially unveiled their 2017 season auto on their celebration of 25 years in the racing world.
The Swiss team is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year and the new C36 features a blue and gold livery paying tribute to its time in F1.
The new Sauber features numerous design cues expected of the new 2017 cars - a tail fin [disguised in black], and reshaped front and rear wings.
The vehicle itself features the swept front and rear wings that are mandatory under F1's new aerodynamic regulations as well as larger barge boards and a fin on the engine cover.
The cars are becoming wider again, from 1.8 to 2 metres. "In total, this means more downforce, more grip and, as a result, faster lap times".
"Basically, big teams also have an advantage when it comes to major changes in the regulations but when the cards are reshuffled new opportunities always present themselves as well". The aero concept includes the optimisation of the front and rear wings and the underfloor.

After Sauber finished 10th out of 11 teams last season, technical director Jorg Zander has admitted he expected "a clear improvement compared to last year". The work of the team was therefore focused on reducing the coefficient of resistance as much as possible and achieving a significant reduction in weight, despite the fact that the minimum weight of single-seater has been raised this season to 728 kilos.
"The width of the front tyres has increased from 245 to 305 mm, that of the rear tyres from 325 to 405 mm".
Referring to the 2016-spec engine, he described it as "a tried and tested system with higher durability to begin with".
