Tupac's highly anticipated induction was something to behold, especially following a ceremony that, up until that point, had been somewhat mundane.
Fellow rapper Snoop Dogg recalled he and Shakur in the early 1990s as "two black boys struggling to become men". There were a few jokes here and there.
"Really can't believe that it's been 21 years since we actually got to hear from 2pac", Snoop said.
"While many of you remember him now as some kind of thugged-out superhero, Tupac knew he was only human. And Tupac represented through his music like no other".
Boro strive for balance to stay afloat in Premier League
Middlesbrough's defensive "naivety" cost them in Wednesday's 4-2 Premier League defeat by Hull City, says head coach Steve Agnew. There was initial confusion over whether the goal had been given as referee Michael Oliver went to consult with the linesman.
Only the sixth rapper in history to ever be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Tupac now joins the likes of Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five, Run-D.M.C.
Last night, the ceremony was held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, and some of the stars who came out to pay tribute to the late rapper include singer Alicia Keys and rapper TI. Snoop, who's also known as a marijuana enthusiast, said Shakur was also the first to give him weed.
"Pac's a part of history for a reason, because he made history", Snoop said of his fallen friend. "Revolutionary and - oh, yeah I'm getting fucked up".
Accompanied by a DJ scratching records, Keys got up from her piano and then broke into Tupac's "Changes" from his Greatest Hits album.
Then, Snoop returned to the stage with YG for "2 of Americaz Most Wanted". T.I. and Treach of Naughty by Nature also performed. All the performers took one final bow in honor of a man many consider to be the greatest rapper of all time.
