A fire ripped through a two-story home on 208th Street near 112th Avenue in Queens Village near Jamaica on Sunday afternoon, killing five people, according to the NYPD.
Fire officials said the entire house was consumed in flames by the time they showed up, just minutes after FDNY first received a phone call around 2:30 p.m. reporting the fire traveling from the first floor to the second floor.
It quickly escalated to a 3-alarm fire as it spread to the home next door, officials said.
