Madeline Connelly, 23, went for a day hike with her dog last Thursday and never returned.
Madeline Connelly, 23, was found almost one week after she went missing on a hike in Montana. Connelly, who lives in Arizona, was in Montana visiting family in the Kalispell area.
Curry told us Madeline Connelly was so ill-prepared for her extended hike that she didn't even have a water bottle with her.
Connelly didn't have a tent or any supplies, she said, and slept under trees for protection from the elements.
"We're assuming she somehow got lost during that day and never made it back to her vehicle". The Two Bear Air rescue helicopter rescued Connelly from what Curry described as a heavily wooded area. Two Bear Air Rescue flew her out, although she had offered to hike out, they said. She was reunited with her family, CBS Missoula affiliate KPAX reports.
Her uncle Michael Connelly explained to us earlier this week, "She never came back and when the sun went down Marti was starting to get pretty nervous and he thought maybe she made a decision to stay another day".
"She was found just a couple hours ago, and she's just fine", Curry said in a phone interview.

In addition to demonstrations, there will be game developers talking with members of the Nintendo Treehouse . Nintendo's plans for E3 are always a bit on the unorthodox side, compared to their peers.
"I thought if I kept going I would be in the same loop of a trail, and I would just get out", she said.
She says she spent the days sleeping and hiking.
Curry says the dog was with Connelly when she was found. "They're treating this as a rescue, not as a recovery, and there have been no signs of any torn clothing, or blood, or anything like that".
Her dog was with her. "I feel like an idiot honestly".
It's "the best mother's day gift ever" her mom added.
"She's an experienced outdoorswoman". Connelly graduated from Oak Park and River Forest High School. "It's actually snowed a little bit during that time", he said.
A vigil was held Monday night at St. Luke Parish in River Forest, Illinois.
