AT&T spokesman Mark Giga issued a statement, saying it's "baffling" as to why union leadership would call a strike. The strike is only scheduled to last three days.
CWA members at the store on Venture Drive in Peru picketed, but it was not immediately clear whether any, all or how many employees there were on strike.
Marsden said workers would return to their jobs at local AT & T stores on Monday. CWA leaders said that while AT&T brings in almost $1 billion in monthly profits, the company continues to outsource and offshore jobs.
Just over half of the employees work for the company's wireless business, primarily in call centers and retail stores, and have been without a long-term contract since February. It's about time we stand up to receive better and affordable healthcare, a fair scheduling policy and overall wage increase. Some 17,000 workers in California and Nevada walked off the job in late March to protest company changes in their working conditions in violation of federal law. We have made every effort to bargain in good faith with AT&T but have been met with delays and excuses.

Information provided by the CWA states the union represents more than 150,000 workers at AT&T, including 45,000 at AT&T Mobility nationwide; 9,000 at DirecTV and 2,000 at AT&T Internet.
AT&T customers could find it hard to obtain help this weekend if something were to happen to their DirecTV, U-Verse, or AT&T wireless service, as AT&T union workers walked off the job today following failed contract negotiations. "Even my son will be out there with me".
Locally, workers have posted reminders about the planned walkout on message boards and social media asking customers to show their support by not shopping at AT&T stores.
