After all, why play 82 regular-season games and go through three rounds of the playoffs only to end up with the same two teams that were in the finals previous year?
Manu Ginobili is confident he can still cut it in the National Basketball Association but says he needs to decide whether he wants to go through another season after his potential retirement overshadowed the San Antonio Spurs' playoff exit to the Golden State Warriors.
Gregg Popovich got the celebration started early tonight, handing Ginobili the surprise start. In the 129-115 loss, Ginobili scored 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting, including hitting one of four 3-pointers.
Veteran Manu Ginobili - in a potential farewell game - posted 15 points for the Spurs. "Obviously, it's up to him how much longer he wants to go, but one thing about it, he's definitely not a liability on the floor".
It may have been adios only for this season, but Popovich understood there was a chance it was for forever. The way that he plays the game, you have no choice but to just love watching him play.
Although younger players are starting to take over the league, Ginobili said he feels like he can still hold is own.
"I feel like we could definitely be better". SA can match any offer for Simmons, but after his breakout performance you have to figure a team desperate for athleticism will put up a number that makes it tough for the Spurs to keep him. "I have to choose between two wonderful options. I'm really happy for the group, there's only one happy team out of 30 at the end of the day, everybody else is sad at some point", Popovich said.
Curry explained his gesture by simply saying, "I'm a Manu Ginobili fan". There is no way I can be sad. "As fellow members of the Bay Area professional sports community, we wish the Warriors the best of luck and hope they bring home the title".
Donald Trump calls N Korea's Kim Jong-Un 'madman with nuclear weapons'
Duterte arrived in Moscow Monday night for a four-day visit, accompanied by a large Filipino business delegation. The Obama administration's measured criticism of Duterte's murderous war on drugs enraged the Philippine leader.
But a Steph Curry quote after the game says it all. "We have seven new players this year, and, for our part, I think they had a great season".
After a beleaguered playoff series against the Memphis Grizzlies in which many wondered if Ginóbili had anything left in his tank, the press' inquiries centered around the superstar's mindset.
So, too, will his teammates.
Ginobili, at 39 years old, will be a free agent this offseason and has said he would consider retirement, though he doesn't have his mind made up. "We'll see what decision he makes soon".
As ESPN's Doris Burke interviewed Golden State's Kevin Durant on the court following the contest, the chants honoring Ginobili continued to reverberate throughout the arena, causing them to pause to wait for the Spurs guard's exit from the court.
Ginobili waved, blew them a kiss, and disappeared into the vomitory leading to the Spurs locker room.
What we do know is there will be two Longhorns in the NBA Finals.
