Sampaoli revealed last week that Argentina wanted to appoint him.
Senior delegates from the Argentine FA travelled to Spain on Thursday to speak with Sevilla president Pepe Castro and the two parties have now reached an agreement in principle which will see Sampaoli leave his contract a year early to take charge of his national side.
AFA representatives have agreed to the rescission clause in SAMPAOLI'S contract, which local media reported to be 1.5 million euros (US $1.68 million).
The La Liga club has almost reached an agreement with the Argentine football federation to let Sampaoli leave.
But after being linked with the Argentina post, it appears to have been a position the Santa Fe born coach could not turn down.
Sampaoli leaves Sevilla having guided them to the top four but, for much of the season, this was a campaign that promised more.

Jaguar is yet to reveal more as development, which includes high-speed testing at the Nürburgring, is ongoing. The team is very enthusiastic and is committed to the creation of a thrilling experience for the driver.
The agreement will be signed by both parties on June 1st.
Sampaoli enjoyed a largely successful solo season in charge at the Sanchez Pizjuan as he led Sevilla to fourth in La Liga behind the might of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
Argentina have been without a coach since Edgardo Bauza was dismissed in April.
Argentina's next outing is the MCG friendly against Brazil on June 9 with their next World Cup qualifier away to Uruguay on August 31.
The Albiceleste - second in the Federation Internationale de Football Association world rankings - are now fifth in the South American group having lost four of their 14 fixtures to date, a record which cost Bauza his job after just eight months. Only the top four sides will qualify directly for the tournament in Russian Federation.
