State Rep. Samantha Kerkman, R-Salem Lakes, said she also has high hopes for the plant.
Other states that vied for the plant are Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas. Tim Casey, director of economic development for Waukesha County Center for Growth, Inc. said they are working to match Foxconn with manufacturers in the county based on the parts and materials the company needs. "This could be for Wisconsin what the Bakken did for North Dakota - we could see a jobs gold rush driven by Foxconn" and the ripple effect that prompts more work in other industries, Bauer said. Adding thousands of new workers will require construction of thousands of new homes, and already-depleted housing inventory in Wisconsin, like much of the country, makes that a bigger challenge.

Foxconn promised in 2013, for example, to invest $30 million and hire 500 workers for a new, high-tech factory in Pennsylvania that was never built.
The special session is scheduled to start Tuesday, although it's not yet known when lawmakers will actually vote on the bill.
"My main message was: There is a world-class university in Madison, Wisconsin", Blank told the Wisconsin State Journal, recounting her informal talks with Foxconn officials.
Foxconn announced the investment from the White House.
