The Coast Guard said crews have rescued more than 1,450 people during the storm.
The Coast Guard in CT is beginning to mobilize to help in the federal response to the enormous devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey, which has dropped to tropical storm strength but continues to pound Texas with massive amounts of rainwater and threatens Louisiana.
A crew is on there way from Florida to help with hurricane Harvey rescue efforts. Although it rapidly weakened to tropical storm status, it also stalled over the Gulf Coast, unleashing torrential rains that have caused devastating flooding in Houston and surrounding areas. The Coast Guard is deploying assets from around the country to respond to the storm. Harvey is expected to produce 10 to 20 additional inches or rain over the upper Texas coast and southwestern Louisiana through Thursday, with isolated storm totals maybe reaching 50 inches over the Houston-Galveston area and the upper Texas coast.
Equipment used by the Coast Guard included two MH-65 helicopters, the Times reported.
