The U.S. Hurricane Center has sent out an urgent alert warning of a "life-threatening storm surge inundation of 10 to 15 feet (3 to 5 meters) above ground level" and telling people to "MOVE AWAY FROM THE WATER!".
Great job today by Deputies Mizner and Hart as they helped rescue two Manatees that were stranded in receding water.
Rescuers trudged through several inches of mud to load the hefty manatees onto tarps and dragged them to deeper water, witnesses said.

Marcelo Clavijo, who joined in on the rescue mission, said: "It was a pretty cool experience". After the photos of the manatees were shared more than 6,000 times, Sarasota County and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission took notice and came to the rescue of the huge sea cows, reports the Atlanta Journal-Courier. Hurricane Irma and an unusual low tide pushed water out over 100 yards.
Yet "we couldn't just let those manatees die out there", Tony Faradini-Campos tells the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.
"Unfortunately with manatees, they are accustomed to being tidally stranded at times", Gordon said. He also asked that people stay in their homes until they're sure the storm has passed, and stay off the roads while officials work to clear threats.
