The Brooklyn Nets announced on Thursday morning that star point guard Jeremy Lin's season is over after suffering a ruptured patella tendon during Wednesday night's season opener against the Indiana Pacers.

In the fourth quarter, Lin went up for a contested layup and landed awkwardly before reaching for his right knee while he was on the ground.

The 29-year-old quickly grabbed his right knee before grimacing in pain and collapsing to the court in tears.

Lin was helped to the locker room but eventually limped off the floor under his own power.

Switzerland, Italy, Croatia, Denmark seeded for World Cup play-offs
The draw takes place in Zurich, Switzerland on October 16th and it starts at 14:00 CEST. Both balls in pot 3 will then be mixed up again and then drawn one after the other.

Jeremy Lin's 2017-18 National Basketball Association season looks to be over after the Chinese-American suffered a knee injury that left him writhing in pain on the court in his team's season-opening loss, the Brooklyn Nets said on Thursday. Last season, he only played in 36 games nursing a lingering left hamstring injury.

"Jeremy worked tremendously hard during the offseason and in training camp and was excited for the prospects of the team this season", Nets general manager Sean Marks said in a statement. If you've ever listened to a Pacers game, then you've heard his voice.

"He's getting examined. We'll know more [Thursday]", Nets coach Kenny Atkinson said of Lin, who traveled back to NY with the team.
