Sunday (New Year's Eve): Bitter cold with wind chills 10 to 25 degrees below 0. That means wind chill values could drop below zero for higher elevations.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will begin falling Saturday starting at a high of 39 and dropping to 27. Combining this with the cold air temperatures yields wind chills in the teens and 20s.
Two communities - the villages of Hamburg and Orchard Park - have canceled their respective outdoor New Year's Eve events because of the frigid cold. It appears that we will get cold enough to see at least a mix of rain and freezing rain Sunday afternoon. Gusts are strong over 25 to 30 miles per hour, and highs are only in the lower 20s. From north to south, drizzle is expected to switch over to freezing drizzle and light snow. If anyone's counting - that will be at least six days with temps below freezing (day and night) and that's pretty impressive when our average high is still 40° for this time of the year. This would be the worst case scenario as that much ice accumulation could bring down tree branches and power lines and cause widespread power outages as the brutal cold arrives.
Wednesday isn't looking much better. Low: 42. Wind: S/SE 5 miles per hour. Temperatures will fall from the 30s into the 20s with wind chills in the teens.

With the temperatures already in the teens, the threat of frostbite is highly likely for anyone spending a lengthy amount of time outdoors for the holiday.
Saturday will be mostly cloudy but very light winds and milder with a high of 67.
Parts of Central Florida near Orlando - and even Daytona Beach - may experience temperatures below freezing, Kottlowski said. We did see the sunshine return late Friday morning though, so it was nice to have sunnier skies for the afternoon.
