The ordinance approved last year by the Miami Beach City Commission set a minimum wage of $10.31 an hour to take effect in 2018, with the wage going up $1 a year to $13.31 on January 1, 2021.
New York City fast-food workers will be paid $15 an hour beginning December 31, 2018.
Florida's minimum wage will increase to $8.25 an hour Monday, 15 cents higher than the current rate.
The 15-cent increase for 2018 is the largest hourly increase since 2012, when the wage rose by 36 cents an hour, according to the Department of Economic Opportunity.
Another minimum wage hike will be coming for NY workers Sunday. The increase will be phased in over a longer period for workers in the rest of the state.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo included the wage increase in the 2016 Built To Lead Agenda.

"The paid family leave requirements of New York State have taken money out of employee paychecks and have created scheduling challenges for employers in a time when finding employees is hard". An establishment is considered a fast food restaurant if it "offers limited service where customers order and pay before eating, including restaurants with tables but without full table service and places that only provide take-out service", according to the state Department of Labor.
"In many cases, our employers are paying beyond minimum wage", he said.
The minimum wage rule also applies to local chains that operate at least 30 locations in NY.
The state's minimum wage will increase from $8.90 to $9.25.
Minimum wage increases are expected to have a "ripple effect" in OH, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer, as businesses increase wages for entry level employees, they typically also raise the wages of those in the upper tiers, such as supervisors and managers.
"The minimum wage increase, new paid family leave requirements and the state's proposed employee scheduling regulations are concerning to employers in the area", he said.
