Alabama was voted No. 1 in the final Associated Press college football rankings and received 57 of 61 first-place votes from the media panel.
While Alabama and UCF can't settle it on the field this season, a group of UCF fans have paid for a billboard asking the Crimson Tide to play the Knights in a home-and-home football series.
It's nice to aim high, UCF fans, but a future series with the Tide probably won't happen (cries of "We Want Bama!" never go well anyway).
2, the Prince George Journal sent out a press release declaring the University of Central Florida Knights national champions of college football by virtue of their 34-27 Peach Bowl victory over Auburn on January 1.
UCF (13-0, 8-0 AAC) is ranked No. 6 in the AP poll.
SpaceX defends rocket's performance in secret satellite launch
On its website, SpaceX says it has more than 70 upcoming missions on its launch manifest, which could take several years. In a statement, the Department of Defense said, "As a matter of policy we do not comment on classified missions".
The Knights finished the 2017 season as the nation's only undefeated team while proclaiming themselves as national champions.
UCF's successful season and demonstrated ability to defeat an SEC opponent has led to spirited debate about expanding the four-team CFP.
But that didn't stop 37 UCF fans from pooling $1,665 on GoFundMe for the billboard, according to ESPN.
"We felt like this year's team could run with anyone in the country, and the Peach Bowl win [over Auburn] proved that", explained ringleader Sean Barakett, who says he contributed $100 toward the campaign. For now, though, Alabama is the sport's official recognized national champion. The Knights won the teams' only matchup in 2000, beating the Tide 40-38.
