Seventeen Florida law enforcement agencies have agreed to cooperate with the federal government on immigration enforcement, offering what officials say is a template that can be used nationwide to overcome legal obstacles preventing tight working relationships. Democratic U.S. Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Kamala Harris sent Homan a letter Wednesday asking to be briefed on how raids are prioritized and for all communications regarding upcoming raids in California. The resolution mandates that city employees do not aide immigration agents in any capacity before, during, or after planned ICE raids within the city limits. The report did not specify a date, but said it will be conducted in the near future.

Previous ICE domestic operations under President Trump haven't bagged more than a few hundred illegal immigrants at a time, but the organization did participate in a massive worldwide gang enforcement operation that charged 3,800 gang members. Homan also suggested leaders of sanctuary cities, which limit collaboration between local and federal agencies on immigration, should be charged with violating federal smuggling laws.
"He obviously had not familiarized himself with what California actually did, which was in no way out of compliance with federal law", said Lofgren, the ranking Democrat on the House's Immigration and Border Security Subcommittee.
