Brian Foster, UM assistant professor of Southern studies and sociology, delivered the keynote address on "Some Things Never Change, and I'm Glad About It".
Fort Valley is a historic black university, or HBCU for short. This is the first time LPS has had a black history class. "However, our Black Panther movie premier showing at Flint Hills cinema is first come first serve for the first 100 students that are at the event with a valid student ID".
"Our events are absolutely open to students of any race", Green, said.
"By me taking this class, I'm learning about my history and my culture and it's an eye-opener", he said.
Still, there were a couple of people who saw the comment as positive.

Calling the month a "milestone", Mayor Jane Williams-Warren, "the girl from Alabama Avenue Projects", said in recognizing the contributions of the community that in Paterson "we don't just celebrate black history in February, we celebrate it 365 days a year". It is a continuous, cosmic beach upon which we all leave our footprints.
The Framingham High library has a display to mark Black History Month.
"This month please join me at events around the valley and take the time to celebrate longtime community leaders like Anna and the late Bob Bailey, Ruby Duncan, Senator Joe Neal, and others who are the Civil Rights heroes of Southern Nevada".
Within that, they will present eight Trailblazer Awards.
