Still, such eye-catching products can often force more mainstream storage prices down - although storage prices do vary wildly, thanks to a particularly volatile supply chain.
The new drive promises speeds of up to 2,100MB/s sequential read and 1,700MB/s write (400K/50K IOPS for random reads/writes respectively). The company said there's enough room on this device to store around 5700 full HD movies at 5GB each. It is the successor to the 15.36TB enterprise SSD that was announced in March 2016. When compared to the previous generation SAS SSDs, the new drive delivered almost twice the performance. The figures are around four times the random read performance and three times the sequential read performance of a typical 2.5-inch SATA SSD. As Samsung executive VP of memory sales Jaesoo Han said in a press statement, the company will "continue to move aggressively in meeting the shifting demand toward SSDs over 10TB".
Shoot female rebels in the vagina - Rodrigo Duterte
De Jesus said the president "further confirms himself as the most unsafe macho-fascist in the government right now". Duterte responded by saying he was okay with imprisonment as long as conjugal visits by many women were possible.
Samsung began manufacturing of the 30.72TB PM1643 in January, and plans to broaden the lineup offerings later this year to include 15.36TB, 7.68TB, 3.84TB, 1.92TB, 960GB and 800GB versions.
Samsung is utilizing several technology progressions to achieve this level of capacity and performance, including controller design, DRAM packaging and associated software/firmware.
The drive also comes with a new controller that integrates nine main and sub controllers used in previous SSDs. For example, Samsung's own 960 Pro SSD boasts 3,500MB/s reads and 2,100MB/s writes. It features Through Silicon Via (TSV) technology to interconnect 8Gb DDR4 chips, creating 10 4GB TSV DRAM packages totaling 40GB of DRAM. That's created to give better data retention and recovery rates after sudden power failures, and an error correction code (ECC) algorithm for less storage maintenance. Complementing the hardware Samsung provides software for metadata protection as well as data retention and recovery from sudden power failures. Additionally, Samsung's new SSD has a high endurance level of one full DWPD and offers an MTBF of two million hours.
