Four people have been taken to hospital as police in Leicester deal with a "major incident" in the city.
He said the emergency services had cordoned off about 60 houses in the area and people had been evacuated because of an "enormous" fire.
Leicestershire Police informed the public that a "major incident" occurred that required all emergency services to deal with the issue.
Emergency officials said the incident was being treated as a search-and-rescue operation, and a hazardous material response team also was deployed.
The property on Hinckley Road is understood to have gone up in flames around 7.00pm local time.

Flames were seen rising from a building in the middle of a parade of shops. It's thought a shop and flat have been destroyed. "There is just an bad lot of smoke here at the moment and the whole area is cordoned off".
At the scene, Sky News Correspondent Tom Parmenter said the damage to the main building, a Polish grocery shop, had been "very very significant". If there had been no bang, I would have thought it was an quake.
The street's now been closed off, as has neighbouring Carlisle Road.
"All emergency services are now dealing with this", police said in a statement.
