The Sixers can clinch their ticket to the second round on Tuesday night back at the Wells Fargo Center.
But after trailing for much of the game, it was far from an easy victory.
Heat forward James Johnson, Sixers guard Ben Simmons and Sixers wing Robert Covington had to be separated during the encounter, which resulted in technical fouls for Johnson and Covington and a personal foul for Simmons.
And boy was it a physical contest.
The Heat are aiming to take control of the series after a Game 2 victory in which Dwayne Wade exploded for 28 points in 11 of 16 shooting from the field and 6 of 8 from the free throw line.
The Sixers outscored the Heat, 27-19, in the fourth quarter. Then late with the game on the line Miami had a couple of awful defensive breakdowns, one allowing Simmons a clear path to the basket without help rotations that led to a dunk, and the other was Hassan Whiteside not going out to challenge J.J.
