Jordan said on Monday it was discussing south Syria with Washington and Moscow, and all three agreed on the need to preserve the ceasefire, which reduced violence since they brokered it a year ago.
Israel suspects Syria's ally Iran of seeking to establish a military presence close to territory it controls and has repeatedly struck Syrian and Iranian targets in Syria when it felt threatened. Moscow has coordinated with Iran and its proxies in the region against opposition forces.
Israel wants Iran-backed forces removed from areas near its border and from Syria in general. If carried out, the deal would demonstrate an unprecedented level of cooperation and agreement between Israel and Russian Federation over how Syria should be divided. In short, the Iranian presence in Syria should be eliminated in its entirety. And Tehran, which is closely allied with Syrian leader Assad and maintains a working relationship with Russian Federation, is laying the groundwork to develop a long-term presence in the country. Their differences however appear to have been set aside in favour of the Israel's long term strategic interests.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said today (Monday) that Assad's regime alone should be allowed at the southern border of Israel, and not Iran.

They may also discuss ways the USA and Israeli armed forces can work together to defeat Iran militarily.
