The Chinese company today unveiled its new Mi 8 smartphone series powered by MIUI 10, plus the new and ultra-affordable Mi Band 3.
The three phones announced are the Mi 8, Mi 8 Explorer Edition, and the Mi 8 SE. The Mi 8 also features an infrared camera paired with a dedicated infrared illuminator for face unlocking similar to the iPhone X. The higher end Explorer Edition offers 3D face unlock and also includes a pressure-sensitive in-display fingerprint sensor.
Finally, the Mi 8 SE is a cheaper, smaller variant with a 5.88-inch screen and Snapdragon 710 processor, versus the 6.21-inch/Snapdragon 845 on the larger Mi 8 and Mi 8 Explorer Edition.
Alongside launching the Mi 8, Xiaomi also launched the Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition to celebrate the 8th year anniversary of Xiaomi. DxOMark gave Xiaomi Mi 8 a score of 99 noting that the company improved a number of aspects in the camera when compared to its previous offering, the Mi MIX 2S. Unfortunately Xiaomi has yet to launch their phones stateside, so for now it appears that these phones will only be available in China. The Mi 8 SE retains the glass back panel and the aluminium frame, which means that even though it has downgraded hardware, the design and build quality is as good as the flagship Mi 8.
The Xiaomi Mi 8 SE has a great price and design.
First up, the "regular" Xiaomi Mi 8. With chipset makers focusing on AI and software developers, making AI-based app there was no way that Xiaomi would let the technology slip away from MIUI 10. The Mi 8 SE is a less powerful member and it features a Snapdragon 710. Xiaomi also took the wraps off the Mi 8 SE, the Mi Band 3 and the latest MIUI 10.
Trump still sees Jun 12 Singapore summit with Kim
The meeting is only the second between South Korea's Moon Jae-in and the North's Kim Jong-un. Abe also said it is necessary to make a US -N. "That hasn't changed ", the USA leader said.
On the specifications front, the phone looks a lot like Mi 8 and sports a notch display. It's a real shame they likely won't hit the US.
OnePlus 6 also features a dual rear setup- 16-megapixel primary lens with f/1.7 aperture, 1.22-micron pixels, gyro-EIS and OIS + 20-megapixel secondary lens with f/1.7 aperture, 1-micron pixels. The smartphone will be made available with 6GB RAM and a choice of 6GB, 128GB or 256GB built-in storage.
On the back, you get dual cameras with twin 12MP sensors. On the standard Mi 8, it's the old-fashioned rear fingerprint reader.
The Mi 8 Explorer Edition is the most expensive model out of all three and comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard memory. The front camera has features such as AI-enabled bokeh mode, beautification features, etc.
