Schroder comes to the Thunder for a desired need: another fast, playmaking point guard for a revved-up bench behind All-Star guard Russell Westbrook. OKCSam Presti and coach Billy Donovan were given permission to talk with Schroder, and they're enthusiastic about partnership.
The trade will save the Thunder about $100 million in luxury tax, as they get rid of Anthony's almost $28 million contract for next season. Doing so meant moving on from a pair of former first-round picks in Anderson and Luwawu-Cabarrot, though both were going to see minimal time in Philadelphia this season.
The Thunder traditionally has been reluctant to waive significant contracts, and it was clear the team viewed waiving and stretching Anthony as a last resort.

Jupiter's biggest moon, Ganymede, also has an underground salt ocean - although this ocean may be too salty to be habitable. They are also believed to be fragments of a larger moon that was broken apart and take just under a year to circle Jupiter.
Schroder, a speedy 6-foot-1 guard, averaged a career-high 19.4 points last season for the Hawks in 67 games, all starts. The Hawks at one point considered Schroder their future cornerstone, but they switched directions and drafted Oklahoma's Trae Young in the first round of this year.
However, the experiment failed to gain any traction as Anthony was forced to play out of position at the power forward spot. He can also play together with Westbrook at times when OKC is looking for more backcourt offense.
It came to a head during the Thunder's postseason series against the Utah Jazz, with Anthony's role being reduced throughout the series. Philly needed a stretch four who could shoot, and Muscala is a career 38 percent three-point shooter. "In addition, with the Heat lacking a closer last season prior to Wade's February return, Anthony closed last season ranked 12th in the NBA in one-on-one scoring last season according to Synergy Basketball".
