Three babies and two adults were stabbed at a home-based daycare centre in New York City on Friday, leaving one child with serious injuries, police said. "There was one child more seriously injured than the other two", but all the babies were in critical but stable condition Friday morning, Holmes said.
Inside what appeared to be a local daycare, police found a 3-day-old girl and a 1-month-old girl stabbed in the abdomen.
The suspect, a 52-year-old woman employed at the center, was taken to a hospital after slashing her wrist, police said.
The woman is also accused of stabbing one female co-worker eight times, police told WPIX. Police say five people, including three infants, were stabbed at an overnight day care center in New York City.

No. 2 Senate Republican leader John Cornyn of Texas was one of the few Republicans who openly questioned Ford's version of events. That this courageous woman is receiving death threats and has been forced to flee with her family is appalling and heartbreaking.
Police say a man who was injured was stabbed in the leg and is the father of a child who was at the day care center. Nine babies were there during the attack, and the place had at least 11 cribs, the district attorney's office said.

"We have seen some paperwork indicating that it is a day care", Holmes said, adding the documents "indicated that they were a nursery". She was taken into a custody for a psych evaluation, said authorities. It's not clear if any of the stabbed babies were the male victim's child. Police earlier described both adult victims as being in their 30s. So far, paperwork has been found showing it is likely a day care facility, officials said.
