Richard Vinneccy confirmed to Politico that he had filed a restraining order against Swetnick following their breakup, alleging she threatened him and his family.
The statement, which was circulated to the hundreds of journalists on the Judiciary Committee's press list, was from Dennis Ketterer, a former Democratic congressional candidate and television meteorologist who said he was involved in a brief relationship with Kavanaugh accuser Julie Swetnick in 1993. Among Swetnick's more explosive claims is that Kavanaugh and his friend Mark Judge were present when she was gang-raped at a house party in about 1982.
In an interview with MSNBC, however, Swetnick voiced that her knowledge of these actions was more speculation then fact saying, "I would see boys standing outside of rooms congregated together, sort of like a gauntlet, and I didn't know what was occurring". Snow reports that Swetnick gave them the names of four others who attended parties with her and could verify that part of the story, at least.
For Republicans to release this letter publicly constitutes a new low. He sent the letter to the committee under penalty of a felony if he is found out to be lying. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he denied the accusations, which Swetnick offered while she was under oath. He also described her as "an opportunist" who sought him out at the bar where he said they first met.
"I felt like I got kicked in the gut and stabbed in the heart", Ketterer said.
"The letter from Dennis Ketterer is garbage - the GOP is desperate".
The statement's release reflected Republicans' aggressive tactics to fight the allegations against Kavanuagh, who is now being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Senate Judiciary Committee has requested the Federal Bureau of Investigation to interview three named witness in Christine Ford's accusation against Kavanaugh, including Patrick James "PJ" Smyth, Leland Keyser, and Mark Judge. He denies all claims of misconduct.
A spokesperson for the Senate Judiciary Committee did not respond to questions about why they chose to release Ketterer's letter, or whether they had any concerns about his claims.
"We have already reviewed your client's allegations", said Davis. He ended up reaching out to Sen.
"I have known Christine Blasey Ford and Julie Swetnick for decades and I believe they are both honest and truthful", the witness says in the declaration. "I would see them laughing". "I asked her if this was just a fantasy of hers". A few years later, he ran for Congress in Maryland as a Democrat, and attempted to hire Swetnick for his campaign. Now a registered Republican, he says he identifies more strongly as a political independent and does not support President Trump.

Julie Swetnick says she's a shy person who pays no attention to politics. Swetnik has accused Judge Brett Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct.
In her story, Snow pointed out differences between what Swetnick told her and the affidavit released earlier by her lawyer, Michael Avenatti. She seemed unfazed when Snow informed her that Ford's allegation became public only two weeks prior to their Sunday, September 30 interview.
